I want to trace the owner of a cherished number plate

Are you looking for a particular cherished registration number, but don’t know who owns it? There are some websites that will give you an indication the type of vehicle the registration number is currently on. However, it’s not possible to find the owner of the cherished registration number, due to Data Protection. Only the DVLA and other official bodies have access to this information.

You must also bear in mind that it’s possible the cherished registration number is not in use. It may have been on a vehicle that’s been scrapped (in which case it is lost). Or the registration number is on a V778 Retention Document.
